Thanksgiving 2020 Snapshots

We usually have a small, intimate Thanksgiving but this year was smaller than ever. It worked out though, because we streamlined the menu to exactly what we wanted to eat and managed to eat all of the leftovers as well. One of the best side dishes we had was roasted butternut squash, courtesy our compost bin and garden. It was a surprise plant that cropped up in the garden bed this year because of some grocery store squash seeds we'd composted and it was so sweet and delicious.

I managed to find a nice ten pound turkey, which was the idea size. And this year, I tried dry brining for the first time. It was much less messy, less waste, and I think it'll be the technique I stick to from now on.

xoxo.
