About Me
Hi! I'm Rachel, the girl behind all of these food posts and if it wasn't obvious enough already by the fact that I have a blog devoted to food: I love to eat. By day, I work as an engineer at a consulting firm. By night, I'm sleeping. Sometime in between, I like to relax by cooking and sometimes I document what I make and share the photos and process here.
Years back while my sister was away at university, she would call me to ask how to make this or that and I would either dictate to her on the phone or via email with step-by-step directions. Sometimes she would ask for photos or videos if she couldn't quite understand the process. I figured I would put that documentation to better use by sharing my efforts on the internet and that's how this food blog was born.
The food I share here is food I actually eat. Most of the time, I'm just snapping progress shots of my weeknight dinner or a weekend cooking session. Basically, I just document my leisurely cooking process; I find it therapeutic, my sister finds it annoying. Now that she's graduated and watching me cook in person, all she wants is for me to hurry up so she can eat.
I was born in Queens, I toddled in Brooklyn, learned to read in Long Island, and eventually ended up in a suburb in New Jersey about 30 miles west of the city. I graduated from a lovely university called Cornell (ever heard of it?) with a degree in civil engineering (and a minor in engineering management and architecture). I'm 5 ft. 3 in. according to my driver's license and I drive a car with a manual transmission because I'm just that cool.
I'm currently using a Sony NEX 5T compact system camera to take photos for my blog. Older photos were taken with my iPhone.
Because I'm allergic to peanuts (it's not a fatal allergy, I just suffer from hives and an itchy throat though the severity does depend on the amount ingested) I won't be sharing any peanutty recipes here. And, I'm not a fan of cauliflower so it's unlikely to make an appearance on this space.
I have a dog named George Michael and despite his neuroses and smelly breath, he is my best friend. And when you love someone, you cook for them so there is a small collection of puppy recipes sprinkled here and there as well.
I self-published a little (200-page) cookbook in 2019. If you're interested, it's available on Barnes & Noble.
If you'd ever like to email me - with something fun, with questions, just to say hi, what have you - you can reach me at racheerachh [at] gmail.com or via the social media links to the right.
Thanks for reading and please come back any time!
P.S. I also love to travel and have a blog devoted to holidaying.
